Evening Prayer

The sun slides to the horizon
and our thoughts slide to you,
God of heaven and earth.
As the shadows lengthen,
we rest our weary bodies.
Let the peace of the evening
fill us as we pray.
Thank you for all that we experienced today:
moments of energy and engagement,
moments of inactivity and quietness,
moments of renewal and reflection.
We enjoyed food and drink,
our feet touched the good earth,
there were companions along the way.
We pause to think about our regrets
for all that is broken or left undone.
Forgive us and help us live
more fully with you tomorrow.
As the darkness deepens
and we close our eyes to sleep,
you spread a blanket of stars.
Meet us in our dreams tonight.
