God, guide America through these mid-term elections
in these fraught and fractured times.
We pray for peace at polling stations,
election officials with strong moral compasses,
and people who take the time and effort to vote.
In a world where billions are spent to influence voters,
champion those who are not in it for the money.
Help Americans choose leaders who govern
not just for the present moment,
but with an eye to future generations.
Thank you for democracies
where people can have their say;
strengthen safeguards within institutions
that resist corruption and deceit.
Thank you for all who ran for public office
and who dare to dream of a country that
will not let its children starve,
will embrace its own diversity,
will work together with allies for peace.
A country that cares for the land and its creatures,
the air and the water that is its lifeblood.
As ballots drop into boxes,
drop your grace onto a country
and help it choose wise leaders.
A gift for the world.
